Terms, Conditions, Returns/Exchanges, Privacy, Payment and Delivery Policies:

Vintage Times is a reputable, long serving Australian based and owned retailer. We have been serving Australian and International Jewellery customers online and from our bricks and mortar shops in Sydney Australia for more than 25 years. 

In March 2025, we made the decision to move to an Online Only business model.  As a result of this change, and to reduce risk to our customers, we have updated our Terms and Conditions.

With that in mind, please read below and feel free to request further information if you have any questions.

SHIPPING:

Domestic / International. Our number one priority is maximum safety and speed of delivery. Vintage Times will never charge packaging or handling charges, nor will we skimp on packaging in order to cut our costs. Delivery times will vary and are completely outside of our control however we endeavour to ship within 24 hours of receipt of confirmed funds. We offer a single fixed rate shipping charge which includes specialised jewellery insurance underwritten by Lloyds of London.

Domestic shipping: A$22

International shipping: A$52.00

Returns? No worries! 

We want to do everything we can to make your online experience a pleasant one. We understand that shopping online is a "riskier process" than purchasing an item "in person", (for us too!).  While we can't change the nature of online shopping, we can put measures in place to reduce the risk of making an incorrect choice.  Of course, there must be rules in place to protect us all, but we believe that they are fair and reasonable.  

We offer a 7- day, no questions asked, return policy for stock returned within the specified time in original, unaltered and unused condition. 

- We will refund or exchange for the full amount of the item purchased. 

- Any / all shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility.  

- Packaging, (jewellery boxes) and Valuations paperwork to be returned undamaged.

- Replacement for lost or damaged Valuations are at cost of replacement. Currently that cost is A$140.  The cost includes:

- Professional outside Valuation costs and

- Licenced insured security courier transportation costs of the item to and from the Valuer. (courier costs).

- Removal, stretching, wear or damage to the attached price/security tags are evidence of customer wear and will void the ability to return the item.

- Any alterations to the item, including re-sizing by us or any 3rd party, will void any agreement to accept return or exchange unless previously approved by Vintage Times.     (Just ask us before you do anything, we're here to help)

- To start the process just contact us within 3 days of receipt for instructions and authorisation.

Note: Returns "may" still be accepted in situations where the purchaser is unable to meet the above terms.  In these cases, we reserve the right to retain a 20% re-stocking / make right fee from the purchase price. Circumstances may include the duration of time between purchase and return, (more than 7 days), or the condition of returned item, (alterations, including resizing or any product damage). 

Valuations:

Valuations offer you an estimate of how much it would cost to have a particular item manufactured and purchased through a retail outlet in the city at the date of the valuation. These values change daily with commodity prices, supply and demand, and local labour costs.  While we are not required to provide valuations, we do so to offer you an independent, professional and unbiased assessment of the jewellery item that you are purchasing.

Maintenance:

Vintage Times has all jewellery inspected by jewellers, valuers and labs experts. Where applicable we will undertake restoration to ensure the item you purchase will be in excellent Antique, Vintage or Preowned condition. While this does not make the ring any less “authentic” your new ring will appear to have just come off the jeweller’s bench!

Inspection & a new chapter for your Jewellery:

We recommend that you to have your jewellery regularly inspected by a jeweller as he/ she may recommend. Normal, natural wear will occur on any piece of jewellery. New, preowned, vintage and antique.

Insurance:  Jewellery is like your car or home, valuable and exposed to wear, damage and loss.  As such, we highly recommend that you insure your jewellery for loss, theft, and damage including but not limited to the loss of stones.

Vintage Times is not responsible for the cost of repair for any physical damage or any loss after purchase.

Things to consider about Antique, Vintage and Preowned Jewellery.

We want your expectations to be set accurately understanding what it is that we sell and offer to the market.

--We do not sell perfect jewellery unless it is described as "New" or "Perfect".  This means that a certain amount of imperfection or wear or indications of use should be expected when buying jewellery of this type.

-- Vintage Jewellery pieces have been worn previously and as such will have wear.

--The very large pictures on this website will do more to explain condition than any description will.  Please inspect thoroughly.

--Every item goes through a thorough check at a professional jeweller before being offered for sale.

--Some restoration will generally be done during this process.

--Known issues will be described where found and these will have already been factored into the price.

--Wear will almost always be present on all items at Vintage Times and this condition must be expected.

--Age and wear in this context are not and must not be considered a fault in the product.

Payment can be made by any of the following methods:

Cash deposit to our Australian or American Bank Account

Insurance:

All items are shipped insured by our Business Insurance policy.  All claims will be investigated and made through this policy should there be a loss.  To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to release us from any liability relating to loss of, damage to, late delivery or non-delivery of any goods you order from this web site and to assign all rights to claim compensation or insurance against our carriers to us and expressly and irrevocably do so.

PRIVACY STATEMENT / LEGAL EASE

Information Collection and Use: Vintage Times, is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Vintage Times collects information from our users at several different points on our website. You may, from time to time, receive information from us about new products and special offers we think you'll like. We won't share your email address with any other businesses. You can opt out of receiving future emails at any time.

Registration: Registration is not required in order to use or order from this website. Should you choose to open an account a user is required to give their name, email address, post code, and a password. This information is used to complete a transaction only. Should the user want to hear about the services on our site in future we will only contact the user with information in which they have expressed interest. Phone numbers collected during the order process will only be used regarding issues arising from an order. This web site may contain links to other sites. Such links are provided for convenience only and may not remain current or be maintained. Vintage Times is not responsible for the content on those other sites or their privacy practices. Any links to other web sites should not be taken as an endorsement, approval, recommendation, or preference by us of the content, owners or operators of those sites. When our order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL (Secure Socket Layers).
