Antique Rose Gold Ring, Princess Cut Rubies, Old Cut Diamonds

An Antique Art Deco ring in 18k Rose Gold with three diamonds and 6 Princess cut synthetic  Rubies alternating in two rows.  Will arrive in a size AUS/ UK- O1/2,  USA-  7.5. Total weight: 3.6gr, Front of ring size: 19mm x 4mm.

This ring has had an independent valuation which will be included in the sale of the ring. This piece is in very good antique condition.

Valuation reads:

An 18ct two tone Art Deco ring featuring 3 brilliant cut diamonds white gold six claw set with two sets of three square cut synthetic rubies, channel set alternatively in a 2.45 -2.20mm wide half round shank, stamped 18ct, Circa 1925.  The  ring is in a good condition.

Diamond measurement: 2 x 3.00mm, = .30cts, Colour G-I, VS - SI

Ring weight - 3.60gA note on Synthetic stones in Deco era jewellery.  It was common for lab created synthetic coloured stones to be used in jewellery of the Deco era.  It was considered new and exciting technology which lent itself well to the geometric and colourful fashion trends of the era.  Add to this the scarcity of coloured gemstones after WW1 robbed the workforce of any men to work in any mining endevour which did not contribute to the war effort, and you understand why many of the coloured gemstones of the era were in fact synthetic.  

Although we strive to only stock natural gemstones, as we want to offer original Deco pieces in a variety of price ranges, we willingly make an exception for the Deco synthetics.  Original, beautiful, reasonably priced and if tested with any gem tester will test as "genuine", (as they are chemically the same as naturals, (and unfortunately are often sold as natural from those who know no better)), these lovely original pieces are fashion history.
