Vintage Norway Elnar Modahl red enamel cufflinks, beveled square edges, tie bar

Elnar Modahl, bright red beveled square enamel cufflinks and tie bar.A pair of deep red enamel double-sided cufflinks and matching tie clip set. The silver bar connector between the two sides of the cufflink is attached at either side to a swivel bar allowing one side to fold down for easy insertion into the cuff. On one side of the connecting bar is the maker’s mark for Einar Modahl (1881-1951) and N for Norway and “925S”. The top of the links are concave in shape and they measure 1.9 cm (0.7”) x 1.8 cm. The tie clip measures 4.5 cm (1.8”) long and is also concave in shape. The enamelling is a beautiful deep red colour, with a geometric design showing through the enamel. Condition: excellent vintage. The cufflinks are made with the French Guilloche Enamel process which gives gorgeous bright color and depth to the enamel. This process involves the application of fine coloured glass powder onto the Silver cufflinks that has been etched with a lovely and intricate design.The links are then kiln fired and the process is repeated until the depth of colour and translucence is achieved.  This process is what gives these enamel cufflinks such visual depth.
